Has anyone ever heard of postcrossing?
It was in the Wo Bao the other day. Really cool!! You send out postcards to others and you get random postcards from all over the world! =]
I was uber excited about it. Snail mail’s pretty much extinct, especially since I don’t use credit cards, and I haven’t gotten bills to pay (lalala=P) So anyway, I get snail mail v.e.r.y. r.a.r.e.l.y. and I thought joining this community would be a really fun experience. You know… make new friends and all that crap.
So there we went happily searching for the website. *Yay! Found!*
Then there’s a membership form to fill up. *Happily starts typing*
“ username: obasan
*Reads*: It is very important to enter your complete address (including postal code and country name).
And that was when sheer paranoia struck.
OMGG.. so does that mean anyone who joins the site will know where I stay? Not just people from around the world. But people in this little red dot too?? OMG that means that some random stalker will know where I stay! Whoaaa.
One day, after a long day where ever I’ll be, I might come home and... *Poof* sitting at the front door will be a strange random person with shades and his cap pulled way low…..
GAWDDD. I watch too much crime shows. I swear I’m gonna cut down on the number of CSI, Mentalist and Criminal Minds.
REALLY.
Side note: I still think postcrossing’s a really interesting idea (the thought of sending a random someone a card is really cool)! Something I might join once I get over my strange strange phobia.
So in the mean time, if you ever get a postcard from “obasan”, quick get the CSI tools out cos I swear –
It’s not me.
Benjamin Ang A little over? Coz if somebody is going to send you a postcard.. they do need to know the address right? haha..
My wife has been doing some exchange of gifts thingy a couple of times.. so far so good.. and she's enjoying it =)
